Holographic metals and insulators

Blaise Goutéraux, Nordita

I will review recent progress on the description of strongly-coupled phases using gauge/gravity duality, with a mind towards applications to Condensed Matter systems. In particular, I will describe how holography provides a broad landscape of holographic quantum critical points, classified by their scaling symmetries. Their conductivity can be computed, and both metals or insulators can be described depending on how strongly traslation symmetry is broken in the IR.
