Entanglement in Cooper pair splitters

Rakesh Tiwari, University of Basel, Switzerland

We consider a double dot based Cooper pair splitter, which is coupled to photonic crystal cavities. The optical component of this device enables us to quantify the entanglement present in the electronic degrees of freedom, without being limited to the usual sources of decoherence in solid state devices. The entangled electrons in the double dot system, gives rise to entangled photons in the cavities, which can propagate over long distances (as compared to the coherence length of the superconductor). A Bell type measurement can then be performed in the polarization basis for the two entangled photons.
